In this course we will gain an understanding of the concepts of Social Isolation and Loneliness including the meaning, prevalence, and dangerous effects they can have on all aspects of our lives. We will look at the current COVID-19 pandemic and possible effects on the percentage of people suffering with loneliness and social isolation as well as the possible long-term impact. Finally, in this course, we will look at the importance of hope, connections, and steps to take in order to combat social isolation and loneliness.
This course is for those on the front lines working in the mental health field, in nursing homes, and personal care homes. It is for family members who have a loved one who is dealing with the effects of being isolated. Finally, this course is for individuals who are struggling with their own loneliness and isolation.
